Key Stage Two children are taught French for an hour each week. Our MFL curriculum ensures that pupils learn a range of skills, particularly speaking and listening, while learning how to speak another language.

We base our French lessons on the National Curriculum and ensure that children gain the confidence to read, write, understand and speak in French.

Whilst our pupils from Year 3 to Year 6 learn common words and phrases, we also ensure to relate our French learning to each term’s theme. Therefore, even within French lessons, children have the opportunity to explore their current topic area, so that learning is exciting and engaging. We use games, songs and role-play to make learning a new language fun for all.
